Pinaree Sanpitak was born in 1961 in Bangkok, Thailand. She graduated from the University of Tsukuba in Japan in 1986. She currently lives and works in Bangkok.
Sanpitak has continuously explored the concept of the body and its sensory perceptions. Her diverse body of work originates in her feelings about the female form and reflects her engagement with a breadth of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, ceramic, wax, glass, metal, sound, and food.
She has exhibited worldwide, including solo shows at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Contemporary Austin, and the Toledo Museum of Art in the United States and Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation in Australia. Her work is held in private and institutional collections in Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, and the United States. She has also shown at biennials in Australia, Italy, Japan, and Korea.
