Art Advisory Committee
Hou Hanru was born in 1963 in Guangzhou, China. He moved to Paris in 1990. He currently teaches at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and serves as a member of the International Advisory Committee for the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, in an effort to introduce contemporary art of the developing world to the West.
From 1997 to 2000, Hou Hanru curated “Cities on the Move,” which explored the interactions between art and the construction and globalization of contemporary Asian cities. The exhibition later traveled to seven cities around the world, eliciting high praise from the international art and architecture worlds. He has always focused on the exploration of artistic forms and possibilities in urban space. He has curated a series of public art programs, such as the Evens Foundation Prize for Public Art in Paris (2002) and the Arte all’Arte program in six cities in Tuscany (2003).
